Rise Delmar Ochsner was born and raised in New York City. She graduated from Tulane Medical School in New Orleans and practiced medicine there for almost 20 years before retiring from her Ophthalmology practice. She moved to Santa Barbara in 1995 to be a full time artist. Missing medicine she went back to doctoring part-time in 2007 and moved back to New Orleans in 2013, to paint and practice.

She has painted life-size commissioned portraits for the ROBERT MONDAVI CULINARY AWARDS of EXCELLENCE, Mick Jagger, Queen Noor of Jordan, Chefs Paul Prudhomme, Emeril Lagasse, Julia Child, and Carol Burnett's cat, Mabel. In 2013 she painted the Louis Armstrong French Quarter SummerFest poster of SATCHMO!

Rise enjoys painting figurative work, children, pets, landscapes and even a few grownups' toys. Her loose and lush style is shown off well by the scale and colorful boldness that typifies her work.

This website is just a sampling of her prolific output.
